Adventures in learning how to treat our Earth more gently and our bodies well, while still enjoying a life filled with good things.

Keeping my mental environment clean

Another vlog for you. This was prompted by a video by Blunty3000 (on YouTube) in which he talks about how bad news seems to get so much more attention than good news. It’s one of the reasons why I avoid commercial television and why Earth and Body Friendly is focussed on the positive side of things, on making a difference, rather than spreading fear and hype.

I’m quite enjoying this vlogging thing. You can probably expect videos from me quite regularly. And I’ve figured out how to avoid that stretching thing that happened in the first one.

  • I am pretty much the same. Don’t watch the news or read it for the simple fact too much horror is out there!

    Nice work there, CB! :)

I am a reforming news junkie. After I started working from home, I found news to be my social outlet - keeping in touch with the world “out there.” My husband, on the other hand, NEVER watches the news for the same reasons you have voiced here. I’ve reached a point now that life is just too short to get caught up in media mental vacuums! I am trying to fill my mental environment with more positive contents and the news certainly doesn’t help that. Thanks for speaking out about this.

Thanks for your comment, April. :-) Even though there’s a lot of garbage on the internet (including heaps of the aforementioned hype and scaremongering), I find it very useful for keeping my social cravings happy.

I believe that if it wasn’t for those of us in the world who make an effort to keep things positive, the world really would be a much scarier place.

    @ Rebecca: Thanks, BB. :-)

  • I love this! I also do not watch the news or cable tv. Like you, I know everything I need know to by using the internet. The news is filled with SO much propaganda it is ridiculous. They tell you what to think, what to fear, how to feel, it’s a creepy mass programming really. Keep up the good work <3 <3

@ Rabbit: One of the things I like about the internet is that I can choose to ignore the advertising and/or news that I’m not interested in. Harder to do with TV. If you’re watching a program you like, you’re pretty much stuck with the ads and the news bulletins. Yeah, you can mute them, or fast forward if you have the technology, but it’s easier on the internet.

Thanks for coming to leave a comment. :-)
